Participation Requirements

All students accepted to LIM College's study abroad program will be required to complete the following:

Submit a non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot in the program. (Visit the program page for more information.)
Submit personal details for two (2) emergency contacts.
Sign and submit LIM College's Travel and Study abroad agreements and waivers.
Meet with a Financial Services Counselor (if applicable).
Schedule an appointment with a physician to complete a health clearance form.
Attend MANDATORY pre-departure sessions.

Note that this is not an exhaustive list of participation requirements. Any participant who does not complete all required pre-departure steps by the given deadlines will not be permitted to study abroad and will be withdrawn from the program. In addition, study abroad participants must maintain full-time status (minimum 12 credits) at the College from the time of their acceptance through the end of the program; dropping to part-time status or withdrawing from the College at any point leading up to the program will make the student ineligible to participate and any committed funds will not be refunded. All questions about the post-application process should be directed to the Study Abroad Coordinator at studyabroad@limcollege.edu.

Agreements

For all students applying for our short-term study abroad programs for Summer 2027: accepted students are required to pay a non-refundable deposit to confirm their spot in the program. I understand that I will need to specify that I am submitting a deposit for Summer 2027 study abroad program when I pay. I understand that if I receive financial aid that, upon acceptance to the program, I must make an appointment to meet with my financial aid counselor in the Office of Student Financial Services (216 E. 45th St.) to discuss how my aid may apply to my program.

I understand that upon admission into the study abroad program, I will be asked to confirm my acceptance of the offer extended to me. My acceptance of the offer extended to me signifies my understanding of, and agreement to abide by, the payment due dates for my program.

The services included in the fees for each program are indicated on the LIM College study abroad website. Participants are responsible for any additional costs, including (but not limited to) food, shopping, entertainment, flights to and from the destination, and international health insurance. The program fees and included services are subject to change. Students who are accepted to the program will be notified of any changes to the payment schedule, program fees, or included services promptly and by email.
You can make a payment any time Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:00PM and may pay by cash, check, or money order at the Student Financial Services office. Checks and money orders must be made payable to LIM College. Be sure to specify that you are submitting your payment for a study abroad program.

Academic Requirements: Students must complete any prerequisites for the academic course component of the study abroad program for which they are accepted no later than the start date of the study abroad course (which may be earlier than the departure date for the travel component of the program). Students are responsible for knowing what the prerequisites of their study abroad course(s) are and what the study abroad course(s) start date is. Students who fail to register a passing grade in one or more of the prerequisite courses for their study abroad course(s) by the start date of the class will be withdrawn from the program. They will be ineligible to travel with the group and will be subject to the refund policy stated below.

I grant the Study Abroad Coordinator permission to review my academic record, which is on file with the LIM College Registrar, for the purposes of evaluating my application to the study abroad program(s) indicated on this application. This includes my current LIM College transcript and any previous transcripts that I have submitted to the College.

Refund Policy: Participants withdrawing or being withdrawn from the program for any reason prior to the day of departure as set by LIM College will receive a refund minus non-refundable deposit and all other committed expenses. The student is responsible for inquiring as to by which date expenses have been committed for the program for which the student has submitted funds. LIM cannot guarantee that any funds will be able to be refunded if a student withdraws from the program after having accepted the offer to participate, or if they are withdrawn for academic, conduct, or other issues by the College.
No portion of the program costs will be refunded after the first day of the program as set by LIM College. Students withdrawing after the fourth full week of the accompanying course are liable for their tuition. Students must maintain full-time status at the College from the time of their acceptance to the program through the end of the program; dropping to part-time status or withdrawal from the College at any point leading up to the program will make the student ineligible to participate and any committed funds will not be refunded.

Application review: Participation in the Study Abroad Program is a unique and valuable opportunity for students seeking to broaden their academic and cultural horizons. The college will review applications wholistically and reserves the right to select participants based on a range of factors that help determine the best fit for the program. These may include, but are not limited to, academic performance, alignment with program goals, demonstrated interest in international learning, personal preparedness, and the potential for meaningful engagement with the host culture.
