Participation Requirements

All students accepted to LIM College's study abroad program will be required to complete the following:

Submit a $2,300 non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot in the program.
Submit information for two (2) emergency contacts.
Sign and submit LIM College's Study Abroad agreements and waivers.
Meet with a Financial Services Counselor (if applicable).
Submit proof of international insurance coverage.
Schedule an appointment with a physician to complete a health clearance form.
Attend MANDATORY pre-departure meetings.

Note that this is not an exhaustive list of participation requirements. Any participant who does not complete all required pre-departure steps by the given deadlines will not be permitted to study abroad and will be withdrawn from the program. In addition, study abroad participants must maintain full-time status (12 credits) at the College from the time of their acceptance throughout the end of their program. Dropping to part-time status or withdrawing from the College at any point leading up to the program will make the student ineligible to participate and any committed funds will not be refunded. All questions about the post-application process should be directed to the Study Abroad Coordinator at studyabroad@limcollege.edu.

Agreements

For all students applying for our short-term study abroad programs for Winter 2027: accepted students are required to pay a $2,300 non-refundable deposit to confirm their spot in the program. Students planning to use financial aid for any Study Abroad program must make an appointment to meet with a financial aid counselor in the Office of Student Financial Services (216 E. 45th St.) to discuss if or how aid may apply to the program.

Payment Due Dates: I understand that upon admission into the study abroad program, I will be asked to confirm my acceptance of the offer extended to me. My acceptance of the offer extended to me signifies my understanding of, and agreement to abide by, the payment due dates for my program.

Total Program Cost: $5,300*
*Please note that this cost assumes that students will be in double-occupancy rooms. If a student wishes to stay in a single-occupancy room, there will be an additional charge.

Priority Deadline: August 3rd, 2026 by 12:00 pm.
Non-refundable deposit of $2,300 due October 2nd, 2026 by 12:00 pm. (Deposit is required to secure a spot in the program.)
Final payment of $3,000 due October 30th, 2026 by 12:00 pm.

The services included in the program fee for each program are indicated on the LIM College study abroad website. Participants are responsible for any additional costs, including (but not limited to) food, shopping, entertainment, flights to and from the destination, and international health insurance. The program fees and included services are subject to change. Students who are accepted to the program will be notified of any changes to the payment schedule, program fees, or included services promptly and by email.

Academic Requirements: Students must successfully complete any prerequisites for the academic course component of the study abroad program for which they are accepted no later than the start date of the study abroad course (which may be earlier than the departure date for the travel component of the program). Students who do not pass one or more of the prerequisite courses for their study abroad course(s) by the start date of their class will be withdrawn for academic ineligibility and the refund policy stated in this document will apply.

Refund Policy: Participants withdrawn voluntarily or involuntarily from the program for any reason after the first deposit date as set by LIM College will receive a refund minus the non-refundable deposit of $2,300 and all other committed expenses. (Committed expenses include deposits and fees paid in advance for program associated costs such as accommodation and planned excursions and activities.)

The student is responsible for inquiring as to by which date expenses have been committed for the program for which the student has submitted funds. LIM cannot guarantee that any funds will be able to be refunded if a student withdraws from the program after having accepted the offer to participate, or is withdrawn by the College for academic, conduct, or other reasons.

Notwithstanding the above, withdrawing after the second deposit date will attract a charge no less than the equivalent of fifty percent (50%) of the total program cost. Participants utilizing an Honors/ Study Abroad Scholarship of any kind will forfeit this scholarship opportunity if they decide to withdraw from the program for any reason.

For the purposes of this agreement, the deposit/payment date(s) shall be the date(s) published on the Study Abroad application form at the time of submission. No portion of the program costs will be refunded after the first day of the program as set by LIM College. Students withdrawing after the fourth full week of the accompanying course are liable for their tuition.

Participation in the Study Abroad Program is a unique and valuable opportunity for students seeking to broaden their academic and cultural horizons. Due to the immersive nature of the experience and limited program capacity, acceptance into the program is competitive.
